The book concentrates on three primary figures, Edward R. Murrow, Avril Harriman and John Gilbert Winant during the beginnings of WWII in London and their impact on American involvement in the war. It touches on their personal lives and their interactions with both FDR and Churchill. The author tells of all the politics and internal struggles of putting together the huge military force that was able to defeat Hitler. The stories she tells brings to life the struggles, hardships and terror that the British people endured not just during the Blitz, but throughout the entire conflict. I found it very interesting and insightful book.
