I usually like Vowell's dry, cynical, matter of fact wit. This bk has it. The topic of the acquisition of Hawaii from 1st missionaries to its annex didn't keep MY attention. Those who enjoy history and wonder about early Hawaii might like this one. Try her "Assassination Vacation".
